Magdalene iron sculpture by Dessa kirk.

Hi everyone, I do not know if you know this sculpture or not but I discover it when my mom came to visit me last year and I felt with it right away.
Dessa started to created her sculptures with the iron of old Cadillac. She felt in love with Cadillac when she was a child and was watching prostitutes, which she calls "the beauty of the night" going in those "iron beauty".
I hope you will like her work as much as I do. She has a couple of them in different places in Chicago. This one is two or three blocs away from the Art Institute.

Art institute.

Hi everyone,
today we will talk about the Art Institute of Chicago.
My first impression was surprise. I went there once already but i am still amazed by the quantity, diversity and quality of the art piece present in a such small appearing place. I really enjoy the "old" wing. The diversity of the style is just standing. The mix of the biggest names of the Art culture is just amazing. I regret to had such a short time to look at so much. However as much I enjoy the regular side and all those masters pieces, I had a hard time with the modern wing. I am not a very big fan of modern. Well it depend of what you talk about indeed. I really enjoy some modern artists like Salvador Dali and a couple of others. But I do not really understand the point of spreading paint randomly on a canvas. I like the atmosphere of the Institute is great. I really like how each room as its own theme and how close you get bet to the work. It is almost like diving in the paintings or taking part of the sculptures.
Any way, I really enjoy the trip, it was nice to discover this place with the classes and be able to talk to people we are not able to talk to much on a regular basis. I like when we meet in unusual place like this. The class become more interactive, and everyone can share in a better and easier way.

angel

This is one of draw that I like because it is one of the first that I made in colors.
It is watercolor pencil.

lady justice

Here is one of my draw, Lady justice.
I tried to keep the main idea of lady justice, the balance, the sword and the blindness.
I made this draw with pencil and watercolor pencil.

Cultural Center

Hi everyone,
I do not know for you but I liked the visit to the cultural center. The gigantic carton board sculpture was very interesting. But from all the different presentation the one I enjoyed the most was a painting from the unfortunate artist Hollis Sigler. I really enjoyed her style. Very simple but at the same time very full of meaning. I really like her idea of writing her feelings on the frame.

My favorite painting is the lightning stair, the one going from town to the sky. I feel connected to this painting because it reminds me some of my childhood dreams.
I am very touch by the artist work for many reasons. The first one is the subject painted, the second is to know myself people who suffered from this horrible disease.

dryad

This is another of my draw also made 3 to 4 years ago.
It is a Dryad, a spirit of the wood. Legends says that a Dryad lives in symbiosis with a tree. Unfortunately, when the tree was condemned, the Dryad had to fallow in the other world.
With it she lived, with it she would perish.

Kelpy

hi everyone,
Here is one of my drawing.
It is a kelpy, a mystical creature mostly known in Ireland.
A horse from the deepest part of the lac.
it is said it has a very fires temper, and when it breaded with a regular horse, if managed to be saved, the cub would be faster than any other horse.
I also add few things are not really in the traditional representations such as the horn.

I draw this picture more than 4 years ago in pencil. I really like it because if the style, I think I managed to represent the character of the animal.
